I would love to see a project that invested in sidewalks throughought dandridge. We have an active community. The recent walking bridge is never without citizens utilizing it. A comprehensive and thought out side walk project could help define Dandridge City as a welcoming place for healthy and active events. This type of recreation plan could also realize tourism profit to the city and draw events like sanctioned 5k runs and lake swims.

      Mr. Poe,
Thank you for reaching out, the Town has just been awarded a Safe Streets For All grant through the Federal Highway office that will be a comprehensive plan for the entire Town. We are looking forward to the results of that plan and creating a plan that will move Dandridge forward into the future!

The quality of fishing on Douglas Lake has gone into a huge decline over the past couple of years due to over fishing by the never before seen growth of tournaments and fish finding technology. I’d love to see Dandridge make a few changes, so our town can benefit by offering a quality fishing experience to the southeast like we did just 5 years ago. Our town is spending a lot of money to solicit tournament organizers to host their events on our lake which is wonderful, but the past 2 years most of these out of town anglers that visited our lake to fish a tournament never want to come back bc the fishing is so terrible compared to what it used to be. One solution would be giving the lake an off season from tournaments, like we just saw after Helene. The fishing bounced back extremely fast after 4 weeks of no tournaments due to Helene, That information has been spreading all over social media. Right now we have an opportunity to turn our lake around offer a high quality, trophy fishery with Douglas Lake which would be a game changer for our town. The fix is so simple. If we just give the lake a break from tournaments a 1 or 2 times a year, change slot limits for tournaments with over 25 boats to only 1 fish over 16″ per boat March-October until the large fish population rebounds in 2 or 3 years, and really market fish care as a priority in these tournaments that way our town could become a positive talking point in the fishing world as we revive the quality of our lake, instead of this lake being one most everyone now feels sorry for. Myself and many other locals now drive out of state to enjoy high quality fishing that just about longer exists here and it will be even worse after next year if we keep allowing/promoting the over fishing of Douglas Lake. If you made it this far, I sincerely appreciate you for reading. I care deeply about Dandridge and Douglas Lake. I’ve spent on average 250 days per year for the last 5 years fishing Douglas Lake as a recreation and tournament angler. What I am saying is the consensus of every individual that understands the impact of over fishing a lake. Please reach out to me if you want any help with this.
